VC Port, "the cruise ship capital of the world", borrows PortMiami's slogan

Where the line appears

Rockstar's Vice City overview on the official GTA VI site lists what each part of the city offers: "from the pastel art deco hotels and bright white sands of Ocean Beach, to the bustling panaderías of Little Cuba and the bootleg brands of the Tisha-Wocka flea market, out to the VC Port, the cruise ship capital of the world." Trailer 1's highway signs also point drivers toward the port and the Keys.

The real slogan

PortMiami calls itself "the Cruise Capital of the World", with a copyright mark, in its own announcements. The title is earned. In fiscal year 2024 (October 2023 to September 2024) it handled 8,233,056 cruise passengers, a record at the time and almost 13 percent up on the 7,299,294 of the year before. The port sits on Dodge Island between downtown Miami and Miami Beach, so its ships are part of the skyline Rockstar is copying.

Rockstar changed one word, "cruise" to "cruise ship", and kept everything else. For anyone from South Florida, the line reads like port authority copy.

From Viceport to VC Port

The 2002 Vice City had a port too. Viceport was an industrial district of warehouses, freighters and a boatyard on the mainland, where Tommy Vercetti could buy the boatyard. GTA VI keeps the idea, shortens the name to VC Port and sells it on cruise ships instead of freight.

What it does not sayUnconfirmed

The line tells us how Rockstar wants VC Port to be seen. It does not say whether players can board a cruise ship, sail anywhere or rob one. Treat any cruise-ship gameplay as unconfirmed until Rockstar shows it.

More easter eggs

• "Channel the Original Kingpin": a weapon skin based on Tommy Vercetti's shirtThe Vintage Vice City Pack includes a tropical weapon pattern that Rockstar openly describes as inspired by Tommy Vercetti's palm tree button-up. It is the clearest official nod yet to Vice City's 1986 kingpin.

• Lucia's family came from Liberty CityRockstar's official character bio says Lucia's mother has dreamed of the good life "since their days in Liberty City", tying GTA VI's lead to the series' oldest city.
• Ocean Beach and Washington Beach keep their Vice City namesOfficial GTA VI copy uses two district names straight from the 2002 map, Ocean Beach and Washington Beach, and brings back the Squalo speedboat.
• Pißwasser and Logger Light return at Uncle Jack's LiquorsTrailer 1 shows Pißwasser and Logger Light branding in the liquor store Jason and Lucia rob. Both appeared in earlier GTA games; whether their return signals broader continuity is unconfirmed.
