Does GTA 6 Have Online Multiplayer?
No online mode has been announced for GTA VI. The PlayStation Store, the Microsoft Store and Rockstar's own pre-order announcement all describe it as a single-player game, and neither Rockstar nor Take-Two has announced a GTA VI version of GTA Online.

The short answer
No online mode has been announced. When GTA VI launches on November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, every official listing we checked describes it as a single-player game. None of them mention co-op, competitive modes or a new GTA Online.
That is the position as of October 14, 2026. Rockstar can still announce an online mode later, but it has not done so, and nothing below should be read as a hint either way.
[1][4][6][5]What the official listings say
The wording barely changes from one store to the next.
PlayStation.com's GTA VI page has an FAQ that asks "Does Grand Theft Auto VI have any multiplayer modes or features?" The whole answer is one sentence: "Grand Theft Auto VI is a single-player experience." The US PlayStation Store product page lists "1 player" and "Offline play enabled" and repeats that line in its description, and the UK store page says the same.
On the Microsoft Store (US), the same sentence sits in the description, and the Capabilities box lists only "Single player". Rockstar's own pre-order announcement from June 24, 2026 put it this way: "Grand Theft Auto VI features a single-player experience set in the biggest, most immersive evolution of the series yet."
One thing the listings do not settle is whether any feature needs an internet connection. On PlayStation, offline play is tied to the "Console Sharing and Offline Play" setting on your main console, and the legal text on both stores says certain features may require a connection or a Rockstar Games account without naming them.
[1][2][3][4][6]Where GTA+ fits in
Digital pre-orders come with a free month of GTA+, which confuses things a little. Rockstar's own GTA+ page calls it "the premium Membership for GTA Online players", and the pre-order announcement describes it as "the best way to get the most out of the ever-evolving world of GTA Online".
That is the GTA Online you can play today, the one that grew out of GTA V. The free month is not a sign that GTA VI ships with its own online mode. How to claim it, and the deadlines on each store, are in our pre-order guide.
[7][6][2]What Take-Two has said about GTA Online
The most direct comment came from Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick on the company's August 2026 earnings call, as reported by TweakTown: "we do expect to support GTA Online going forward." He also said the update cadence "hasn't really changed".
He was talking about the existing GTA Online. He did not announce a GTA VI version, a date or a price, and TweakTown notes that Take-Two's executives would not say how online play will evolve after GTA VI.
[8]What is not known yetUnconfirmed
Whether GTA VI will get an online mode later, what it would cost and whether it would be sold separately are all unannounced.
Some coverage reads the single-player wording as a signal. TheGamer wrote in June that online "definitely isn't going to launch alongside the game" and is "coming somewhere down the line". Those are the writer's conclusions, not statements from Rockstar or Take-Two, and we will update this page only when one of them says something on the record.
