Overview

The Leonida Keys are Rockstar’s “Gateway to Paradise”: a tropical archipelago where the dress code is casual and the bars are loaded. The official pitch promises easy living and deck chairs, then immediately warns that the islands sit on the doorstep of some of the most beautiful and dangerous waters in America.

The Keys matter to GTA VI’s announced cast as well as its geography. Rockstar places Jason there working for local drug runners, and identifies Brian Heder as an older smuggler still moving product through a boat yard with his wife Lori.

What Rockstar has shown

Rockstar’s official Keys images establish the setting through water, boats, roadside businesses and island life. They complement the character profiles without confirming every business, route or crime operation seen or implied in the region. The exact size of the archipelago and its travel boundaries remain undisclosed.

The Keys in the Launch Trailer

The Launch Trailer that Rockstar released on October 15, 2026 opens in the Keys. The first shot, at 0:02, follows a pickup towing a jet ski on a trailer down a palm-lined highway. At 0:03 the camera reaches a roadside billboard that reads "Welcome to The Keys", painted with a heron, a large fish and coral.

The next shot, at 0:05, looks over a waterfront boat storage business signed "Brian's Marina", with boats stacked in racks and bays and small islands behind it. Jason then works on a boat in a shed, takes a phone call and looks out at a floatplane on the water. It is the clearest look yet at everyday life in the Keys, and at Jason holding down a normal job.

The sign uses the short name "The Keys", the same way Rockstar's character profiles refer to the islands. The trailer does not caption any shot with a place name, so where the sign stands on the map is not known.
