GTA 6 Performance Mode and FPS: What Is Confirmed on PS5, PS5 Pro and Xbox
Rockstar has not announced a frame rate, resolution or performance mode for GTA 6. The only official signals are a "PS5 Pro Enhanced" label on the PlayStation Store and an "Optimized for Xbox Series X|S" badge on the Xbox Store, and neither comes with details. The 30fps reports trace back to a Rockstar developer quoted secondhand. We will update this page at launch.

Has Rockstar confirmed GTA 6's frame rate?
No. As of October 20, 2026, Rockstar has not published a frame rate, a target resolution or a list of graphics modes for Grand Theft Auto VI on any console.
We checked the places where that information would normally appear. The official GTA VI page lists the November 19, 2026 release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S and a "Plays Best On PS5" badge, but no technical specs. Rockstar's page for An Extended Look, the 27-minute video from August 27, says it was "captured entirely from in-game footage on the PlayStation 5" and stops there.
The joint PlayStation Blog post from Sony and Rockstar on June 24, 2026 is the most detailed official description of the PS5 version. It covers DualSense haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, Tempest 3D AudioTech and "near-instant load times" from the SSD. It does not mention frame rate, resolution, HDR or ray tracing.
[1][2][7]What do the PlayStation and Xbox store listings say?
The store pages carry two labels, and that is all the official performance information there is right now. We read them on October 20, 2026.
| Store | What the GTA VI listing shows | What it does not say |
|---|---|---|
| PlayStation Store (US and UK) | PS5 version, "PS5 Pro Enhanced" | Frame rate, resolution, modes |
| Xbox Store (US) | "Optimized for Xbox Series X | S" |
Sony gives the PS5 Pro Enhanced label to games that have an improved version on PS5 Pro, and what improves varies from game to game. So the label tells you Rockstar did some work for the Pro. It does not tell you whether that means a sharper image, a steadier frame rate or a separate mode.
[4][5][6][8]Will GTA 6 have a 60fps performance mode?Unconfirmed
No public answer is available yet. The closest thing to an answer came from a preview event in August 2026. According to GTA BOOM, Rockstar North co-studio head Rob Nelson told Brazilian creator Davy Jones that the console builds were running at 30fps during development. Asked about 60fps, Nelson reportedly said the technical team would have to answer that, and he did not rule it out.
Treat that carefully. It reached the public through a creator's account of a conversation, it describes a build in development, and Rockstar has not repeated it in any official channel. Some sites headline it as "Rockstar confirms 30fps". That goes further than the remark itself.
Digital Foundry's analysis of the Extended Look, as reported by GTA BOOM, found a stable 30fps in the footage and an image of around 1440p. Digital Foundry called a 60fps console mode "extremely unlikely" because the game's simulation of crowds and traffic is heavy on the CPU. That is expert analysis of a video, not a statement from Rockstar.
[9][10][11]Unconfirmed: GTA 6 frame rate and resolution reportsUnconfirmed
Everything in this table is unconfirmed. None of it comes from Rockstar, Sony or Microsoft in an official statement.
| Report | Who said it | Based on | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Console builds run at 30fps during development | Rob Nelson (Rockstar North), relayed by creator Davy Jones, August 2026 | Secondhand remark at a preview | Unconfirmed |
| A 60fps option is undecided, up to the technical team | Same remark | Secondhand remark | Unconfirmed |
| No details yet on resolution or ray tracing | Same remark | Secondhand remark | Unconfirmed |
| Extended Look footage ran at a stable 30fps, around 1440p, on PS5 | Digital Foundry, August 2026 | Analysis of Rockstar's video | Analysis, not official |
| 60fps on console is "extremely unlikely" because of CPU load | Digital Foundry, August 2026 | Analysis | Analysis, not official |
| Xbox Series S could run at around 720p, with 30fps the realistic target | Digital Foundry, May 2025 | Analysis of Trailer 2 and hardware specs | Prediction, not official |
We left out claims from accounts with no track record, leaked footage and anything built on it.
[9][10][11][12]Does GTA 6 run better on PS5 Pro?
The PlayStation Store labels the game PS5 Pro Enhanced, indicating an enhanced version. Neither the listing nor Rockstar has described which feature changes. The PlayStation Blog post mentions the PS5 Pro only as a console you can buy, not as a version of the game with extra features.
If you are deciding whether to buy a PS5 Pro for GTA 6, there is no official basis for that decision yet. The answer should become clear when Rockstar or Sony describes the Pro features, or on November 19 when the game's settings menu shows what is there.
[4][5][7]How will GTA 6 run on Xbox Series S?
Xbox Series S is an official launch platform. Rockstar lists GTA VI for "Xbox Series X|S", and the Xbox Store badge covers both consoles. Rockstar has not said how the Series S version differs from the Series X version in resolution, frame rate or visual features.
The only figure you will see often, around 720p, is a 2025 Digital Foundry prediction from trailer footage and the console's hardware, as reported by GTA BOOM. Until Rockstar publishes specs or the game is out, it is a prediction.
[1][6][12]When will we know GTA 6's real performance?
If the scheduled November 19 release proceeds, players and reviewers can check the settings menu and measure performance then. Pre-load opens on November 12, according to the Rockstar Store, so store listings may gain more detail that week. We will update this page at launch with what each console actually offers, and we will mark each line as confirmed only when it comes from the game itself or an official source.
Until then, these pages cover what is already known: the GTA 6 release date, what the stores list for the GTA 6 file size, how the 7-day pre-load works and the difference between Standard and Ultimate. For PC, see why every GTA 6 PC spec list is unofficial.
