GTA 6 Trailer Locations and Their Possible Florida Inspirations

Rockstar’s trailers show fictional places that resemble parts of Miami, Miami Beach and the Florida Keys. Ocean Drive and the parallel Keys bridges are among the clearest comparisons. These are selected visual matches from official footage, not locations Rockstar has identified as real-world models. Each shot below has an approximate timestamp and a confidence rating.

Which official GTA 6 trailers are there?

Rockstar has released three trailers for GTA 6, all on its official video page and YouTube channel:

TrailerReleasedWhere it spends its time
Trailer 1December 2023Vice City, the Keys and a viral-video montage
Trailer 2May 2025The Keys, a prison release, Vice City nightlife and the wetlands
Launch TrailerOctober 15, 2026The Keys, the swamp at night and set pieces in the city

Rockstar also put out Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look, a 27-minute in-game video, on August 27, 2026. It is not a trailer and this page does not cover it.

How to read the tables: timestamps are approximate and can differ by a second between the YouTube upload and Rockstar's download. We describe the shots in words and do not embed or reproduce footage. Rockstar never captions a trailer shot with a real place, so every match is fan or press analysis. High means the street or landmark is unmistakable, Medium means a good case made by local press or fans, Low means a loose resemblance.

Miami New Times also spotted the Venetian Causeway, the Rickenbacker Causeway to Key Biscayne, 500 Brickell's twin towers, a Wynwood-style mural street and a club laid out like Club Space in the early city montage, roughly 0:14 to 0:31. The paper did not time those shots and we could not pin them to a single second, so we leave them out of the table.

New Times also read a night pool party as the Clevelander hotel, named a fictional South Beach hotel, the Dominion, and saw a Little Haiti-style mural with what looks like Miami's elevated Metrorail behind it. Those shots are not timed in the paper's write-up. The prison where Lucia is released (about 0:50 to 1:04) has no real counterpart that anyone has made a solid case for.

The Launch Trailer is mostly action, so it has fewer place shots than the first two. Its biggest change is where it starts: in the Keys, with Jason at work.

How far can trailer matches be trusted?

Rockstar has not confirmed any of these matches, and the finished map may move or merge places that look separate in the trailers. The finished map may compress or combine landmarks, so a resemblance in a trailer cannot establish a one-to-one location.

We leave out anything that comes from leaked footage or dev-build maps. If a site lists trailer locations with exact in-game coordinates, that is usually where they came from.

For the stories behind individual shots, see the Seven Mile Bridge theory, Nine1Nine and E11EVEN, the Hurricane Roxy bar and the Trailer 1 viral clips. The full Launch Trailer breakdown is in our Launch Trailer article. For Miami place by place, read Vice City in real life, and for the whole state, the GTA 6 map guide.
