Where to Buy GTA 6 in the US: Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, Walmart and Target

Can you pre-order GTA 6 at GameStop, Walmart or Amazon?

Amazon, Target and GameStop had product pages with readable prices when we checked on October 20, 2026. We found Walmart and Best Buy search listings but could not verify their GTA VI product prices or checkout availability from direct product pages. The directly verified retailers sell the Standard Edition as a "code in box" for PS5 or Xbox Series X|S. The Ultimate Edition has no retail version.

| Retailer | PS5 | Xbox Series X|S | What we saw on October 20 | | --- | --- | --- | --- | | Amazon | $79.99 | Listed | Sold by Amazon.com, Pre-order Price Guarantee shown | | Walmart | Not verified | Not verified | Search listing only; check a direct product page | | Target | $79.99 | $79.99 | Code in box, PS5 code for US or Canada accounts | | GameStop | $79.99 | Listed | Purchase limit per account; online stock showed "Currently Unavailable" | | Best Buy | Not verified | Not verified | Search listing only; product page and price not verified |

"Listed" means we saw the product page but could not read a separate price for that platform. Prices at US retailers can change daily, and Amazon's guarantee only covers drops on Amazon's own price before release.

Is the GTA 6 retail box a disc?

No. Every US retailer listing we read repeats Rockstar's wording: the box holds a download code to support pre-load on November 12, and there is no disc. Rockstar's support page says the physical version should be available for shipping and pickup from retailers starting November 12, and that the code can be used as soon as you get it.

That changes a few habits from older launches:

• You still download the whole game, so you need free space on the console. Our GTA 6 file size tracker has the latest on how big it is (no official number yet).
• You cannot resell or lend the box in any useful way once the code is redeemed.
• If you want the box mainly for an early start, the code-in-box and a digital pre-order both pre-load from the same date.

Do retail pre-orders get the GTA 6 pre-order bonus?

Partly. Rockstar says physical pre-orders contain one code for the game and the Vintage Vice City Pack. The one month of GTA+ is tied to digital pre-orders and purchases of either edition made before November 20, 2026, so a retail box does not include it.

Some chains add their own extras on top. Best Buy's search page mentioned an "exclusive member offer" with pre-order, and GameStop's page promotes its Pro membership. Those are store promotions, not Rockstar bonuses; read the terms on the store's own page. For the bonus cut-off times, see our GTA 6 pre-order guide.

Should you buy GTA 6 digital or from a retailer?

It comes down to three things:

• Edition. If you want Ultimate, buy digitally. Retail is Standard only, and Rockstar says boxed copies can be upgraded later on the PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store once the code is redeemed.
• GTA+. Only digital pre-orders include the free month.
• Price. On October 20 the direct retailer product pages we could read charged the same $79.99 as the console stores. A retail pre-order can still win if the store cuts its price before release.

Will a US code work on my account?

For PlayStation, Rockstar groups the United States and Canada into one code region, so a PS5 code bought at a US store works on a US or Canadian PlayStation account and not on others. Target and Amazon say the same on their listings. Rockstar says Xbox codes are not region-locked. It still recommends buying from a retailer in the same country as your console account.

When do US retail copies arrive?

Retail boxes ship or become available for pickup from November 12, 2026, the day pre-load opens. The game unlocks on November 19. Shipping time depends on the option you pick at checkout, so a box ordered with standard delivery may arrive after the 12th. The GTA 6 release date page has the full schedule, and the US unlock times by time zone are in a separate guide.
